When installing SchoolLeader on your workstations, you need to MAP a drive to the SchoolLeader server. The installation process does not care which drive letter you choose when mapping the drive.
Before mapping to the server, the SchoolLeader Folder on the server must be shared with full permission levels for read and write access to the server. If you used the installation defaults when setting up the server software, then the SchoolLeader folder will be found on your server in:
c:\Program Files\Kressa\SchoolLeader
Some schools choose to share the entire c: drive on the server, while others choose to only share the SchoolLeader folder.
Once the SchoolLeader folder on the server is shared, then you can map a network drive to the server. The method of mapping differs from one operating system to another. If you are unfamiliar with this terminology, it is probably in your best interest to hire a local PC/Network technician to assist you with maintaining your network. SchoolLeader Technical Support will attempt to assist you troubleshoot PC issues unrelated to SchoolLeader, but we can only guarantee resolution of SchoolLeader questions or issues.
Generally speaking, to map a network drive from a SchoolLeader workstation:
click on My Network Places, or Network Neighborhood (typically an icon on your desktop)
locate the SchoolLeader Server in your list of devices and folders. From the top toolbar, click on TOOLS
click on MAP NETWORK DRIVE. A window similar to this will display:
select a drive letter. We suggest something lower in the alphabet like S, T, U etc.
click on BROWSE. Select the SchoolLeader Server Folder.
click on OK, or APPLY, or FINISH
ensure that the box is checked that says 'RECONNECT AT LOGON'
click on OK, or APPLY, or FINISH
install the SchoolLeader workstation software as described in the installation directions you received..
