DB-Rescue is a special utility program for dealing with extreme situations when you cannot start or use SchoolLeader due to some form of corruption in the database. Corruptions can occur from:
failure of your hard drive
power surges due to lightning, or direct lightning hits
turning off the computer abruptly
Before running DB-Rescue, it is recommended that you contact SchoolLeader Technical Support to ensure that you are experiencing a database corruption problem.
First check to make sure that you have an adequate backup of your database.
To perform a database rescue, ensure that no one has SchoolLeader open (including Checkpoint and DB-Watch). To start the DB-Rescue, click on the DB-Rescue icon on your desktop.
Click on the START button. Once the database is successfully repaired you will receive a message box that the rescue was successful.
You will also receive a list of items that were repaired during the DB-Rescue process. You can print this list and use it when calling SchoolLeader Technical Support.
Keeping current backups of your database will ensure that damage to the current database will not seriously damage your business.
