The Outside/Transporting Schools window allows you to define and maintain information about 'other' schools that you service. You will need to define outside/transporting schools if you:
transport children to and from your school to other schools
provide care to children from other schools, even if you don't actually transport the children yourself (e.g. the county school bus will drop children off or pick up the children at your center)
provide care for children who are school aged, even if you have nothing to do with their particular school (e.g. a summer camp program). The way that SchoolLeader knows that a child is 'school aged', is to have them assigned to an outside school. Since a child may begin school at various ages (4, 5, or 6), you need to tell SchoolLeader that a child is associated with an Outside School, for SchoolLeader to recognize that child as 'school aged'.
If you do NOT have a need to track Outside/Transporting Schools then you can bypass this topic.
To access the Outside/Transporting Schools Window, click on School, then Outside/Transporting Schools. (There is no corresponding icon on the top tool bar for this function).
Click on the 'ADD' button, and start entering your data.
Name
The name of the outside school. This
school name will be displayed on Transportation rosters.
If you need to define a school to identify your school aged children (and you don't have a need to know which school they actually attend), then add a school named 'Other'. Now you'll have an Outside School to use when entering information into the Student Folder.
Street / City / State / Zip Code / Tel Num / Fax Num
Address information associated with this school. This information prints
out on the Transportation logs as well as other School reports.
Principals Name
The name of the head administrator of the school. This information is required
by certain state agencies and may be left blank if it does not apply to
your center.
Distance
To School
The total miles of a one way trip to the school. This
information is required by certain state agencies and may be left blank
if it does not apply to your center.
Now click on the SAVE button. If you have more schools to enter, just click on the ADD button, and repeat this process.
To view schools that are already entered, use the 'arrows' in the top left hand corner of the window to click forward or backwards through the school list.
The arrows with the lines bring you to the first record OR the last record, depending on which arrow you use.
The arrows without the lines move you back or forward one school at a time through your list.
To DELETE a school from this list, select the school, and then click on the DELETE button.
