There are two types of "registration" that must be performed for SchoolLeader to operate successfully. First, the License key needs to be loaded to the database to register the product with Kressa and activate the software. Second, the program needs to be registered with the Windows operating system to allow the various components to communicate with each other and the computer. Running this process will perform both tasks for you automatically.
Whether you purchased your product directly from Kressa, downloaded it from our website at www.kressa.com, or received it from a representative of your company administering a SchoolLeader Corporate license, you should have received a License Key that activates the product. If you didn't receive that Key then the product is not registered with Kressa.
You can register the product now by contacting us by email or phone. The Contact Us page on the Kressa web site has all the current methods for reaching us.
Once the product has been registered you will be mailed a License/Registration Key. This License file is very small and can be emailed to you to speed up the process if you desire.
Once you have your License Key on a Floppy Disk you should follow the instructions below to activate your database.
Insert the License Key floppy disk into the Floppy drive of your computer. If you did not receive the License Key on a floppy disk (e.g. received it through email) copy the file onto a floppy disk first and then insert it into the Floppy drive.
Start the SchoolLeader Registration process by double clicking on the SchoolLeader Registration program icon. An icon should have been created for you in the SchoolLeader folder as well as the desktop. If not, execute the program called REGSL.EXE found in the main SchoolLeader directory on the hard drive.
A window like the one shown below should be displayed:
Take note of the Licensee information. Make sure it is correct and then press the Register Now button. The process will load your registration information into the database and activate the system for immediate use.

SchoolLeader is a modern and sophisticated Windows application that uses the latest in Client/Server technology. As a result, there is a "registration" step that needs to be performed with the Operating System in order for the product to work. This registration process is normally performed as part of the installation routine. However, if something did not work properly during the installation OR you are manually moving or copying SchoolLeader components, you will need to run this process again. If there are problems with component registration you will most likely receive an error such as this;
ActiveX component can't create object or return reference to this object (Error 429)
In this situation simply run the REGSL.EXE program found in the main SchoolLeader directory on the harddrive. The installation process should have placed a shortcut to the program in your Start Button menu as well as on your desktop. Run this program just as you would if you were trying to load the License Key to activate the process.
Note: You do not need to install the License Key disk into the Floppy drive for this type of registration. You will receive a warning about the Floppy disk not being ready. This is OK. Simply press "Ignore" on the message box and the Windows Registration process should be initiated.
