Once SchoolLeader is successfully installed and activated, the first thing you need to do is set up your SchoolLeader Administrative environment. DB-Support is the System Administration program for SchoolLeader.
DB-Support provides access to the six main functions in SchoolLeader used to manage the "health" and "security" of your system.
To start DB-Support, double click on the SchoolLeader DB-Support Icon on your desktop.
SchoolLeader is pre-loaded with a default User ID: ADMIN. The ADMIN User ID allows the maximum authority to perform functions from within SchoolLeader. The authority levels for the ADMIN User ID cannot be modified, however the default password can and SHOULD be changed.
To first log on to DB-Support, type in
the User ID: ADMIN
Type in the default password: ADMIN
Select the Server Name by clicking on the 'down arrow' next to DB-Server.
Select the School Name by clicking on the 'down arrow' next to School.
It is highly recommended that you modify the Password of the main ADMIN User ID to something less obvious then the initial setting. A SchoolLeader password may contain up to 8 characters (letters and numbers). The password can be changed here by clicking on 'Change Password' and then answering the prompts to set your new password. You will need to remember this newly assigned password for the ADMIN User ID.
Once logged into DB-Support, you can begin setting up your administration environment.
Only three of these six options need to be set up during this 'getting started' phase:
User ID Maintenance
Define Backup Rules
Event Monitoring Options
The other three options are system functions that can be referred to at a later time, and can be bypassed during this start up phase:
Event Log Viewer
Current Database Statistics
Maintaining Database Archives
To close DB-Support, click on the 'X' in the upper right hand corner.
