5.2 - Welcome Screen

When you first start up CheckPoint Station, the WELCOME screen is displayed.  This screen greets your guardians and employees with a global message intended to be read by everyone (displayed on the left), and your school's personal logo (displayed on the right).

CheckPoint will always display:
'Welcome.  Today is...
Today's Date'

Below that message, you can have your own message displayed.  This message is set within FrontDesk Manager, CheckPoint Manager.

The top border of the screen is lined with four buttons and a clock showing the current time in hours, minutes, and seconds. The two left-hand buttons labeled "Guardians" and "Teachers" will be flashing on and off yellow when someone first approaches the screen. One of these two buttons must be pressed by the individual to begin the process of check-in or check-out. Teachers and other employees will press the "Teachers" button while Parents, and other adults permitted to pickup students will press the "Guardians" button.

Note: Any button that is currently available for pressing will always be "flashing" on and off with yellow color. This helps draw the user's eyes to the "active" buttons and the important areas of the screen. This also helps guide users through the sequence of steps involved in the check-in and check-out process.

Guardians (Button)

This button is always initially flashing when the user approaches the screen. Press this button to begin the check-in/check-out process for guardians.

Teachers (Button)

This button is always initially flashing when the user approaches the screen. Press this button to begin the check-in/check-out process for Employees.

Cancel (Button)

This button is flashing only after the user begins the check-in process by pressing either the GUARDIANS or TEACHERS button. It is active throughout the checkpoint session and can be used to "abort" the process and return the station to the Welcome screen.  The CANCEL button does NOT shut down CheckPoint Station.

Done (Button)

This button is only flashing when all the necessary information has been entered to allow a check-in or check-out to be completed. Until that point this button is inactive. In other words, this is the last button the user presses to "commit" the request to the database.

After pressing this button, the screen recycles back to the main Welcome screen for the next user.
